It's almost a bonus to be able to turn the controller on/off without having to disconnect it.

Everything will map 1:1 with a 360 controller by default, except maybe the PS button, but PC games never use that anyhow. The PC just does it for you.Īs for configuration, the only configuration that I ever do is go into the DS3 tool and turn on the controller when I want to use it.

You have to install drivers for the X360 controller as well. Even if you prefer the DualShock as a controller it just isn't worth all the config hassle you'll have to go through to use it. Plugging in a 360 controller (or using a wireless one with the PC receiver dongle) means you'll never have to touch control settings in any game with controller support. Sorry that doesn't answer your question but I definitely feel you're better off going for a pad that instantly works with no worrying about remapping the trigger commands to R1/L1. The DS3 tool stuff is mostly accurate but I still find it silly to use that thing over a 360 pad because of them stupid "triggers" And no that's not the only way to get rid of the drivers, there's a big fat option to remove them in DS3Tool.I would always recommend just going for a 360 pad because that's what developers design their control schemes around.

It overrides the bluetooth drivers, because it has to. The online component is for ads yes, and that's a problem because? The tool is free and teh creator had to pay to have the drivers digitally signed, so it's only fair he gets something for it. And the tool does load, you got other problems. Pressure Sony to finally release drivers for the DS3.It is completely offline, sends no malicious code, and has nearly all of the same features MotioninJoy provides. Better DS3, a tool that uses the old MotioninJoy drivers to enable users to use the DS3 as a gamepad. This tool is truly a piece of malicious software, and I advise you all to never download this on your machine.

Some users pointed out that the tool will receive malicious code from the servers.

The only way to get rid of the drivers is to either check the registries, refresh to an earlier restore point, or completely restore the machine. The drivers MotioninJoy uses "override" all the other gamepad drivers, and will negatively affect any other peripherals you use. Which makes sense, because all of the constant pop-ups the app created were in Chinese.

This is the kind of DRM that would make Microsoft and EA blush. I tested it out myself and sure enough, the tool wouldn't even load. If you don't have one, you'll only be able to use the digital controls (ie, no analog stick control, no analog buttons, no analog triggers).

So, needless to say, I was scared shitless, and decided to head to Google to see if I'm dealing with any kid of intrusive spyware, or even a malicious virus. Mind you, I closed the program last night after my GTA IV modding session was over. I then woke up the monitor, and saw that MotioninJoy DS3 Tool was open. When I woke up a few hours later, I noticed my tower hadn't went to sleep all night. It was around midnight, so I just said "Fuck it, I'll figure it out in the morning" and went to sleep. At first, I thought Windows was just installing automatic updates, but I remembered I already installed all the important updates a few hours before that. About 5 minutes later, it woke up by itself. So, I logged of my computer last night and put it to sleep mode.
